2004 saw Dan being appointed as lead artist on this major infrastructure project. Dan’s radical design proved extremely structurally efficient. The forms referred to the Sage Opera house and the new footbridge in Newcastle as well as memories of Japanese Tori gates from Dan’s stay in Japan in the 1980’s.
