Dan was commissioned to make a sculpture for the new government offices of DEFRA, The Inland Revenue and Go East. The theme of the work concerns the myth of the sleeping giants who rest under the nearby Gog Magog Downs, and the river goddess, Granta (now the Cam river flowing through Cambridge) whom they loved. Text indicating these sources is cast into the iron stele.
